Flaminio District On the 10th February 1909 the Town council approved the new city plan by Edmondo Sanjust Teulada, whose purpose was to move the city defenses over the trenched field bunkers: after the first 1906 studies, in 1912 it was proposed to a system of far strong points that for Flaminia and Cassia Road- the most important accesses from North- had to be positioned at the same height of Bracciano Lake.
In particular for Porta del Popolo and Ponte Milvio areas, after that he territories under Monte Mario were free, this made it possible to move Piazza d'Armi to Tor di Quinto and toward Villa Glori. In this kind of context, Flaminio district was thought in a way completely different from the past century; above all it was linked by a prosecution to Ponte Milvio on the left side of Tevere river, and by a bridge between this and and the future district of Piazza d'Armi.
The years before and after the Second World War will witness the realization of a part of the sport park, the Foro Mussolini, from 1932 to 1937-38 and four of the bridges previewed by the city plan of 1931:Flamino Bridge designed by Armando Brasini (started on 1936 and completed on 1949, that gave body to the new northern entrance to Rome, and Duca D'Aosta Bridge (Vincenzo Fasolo 1936-39), that lined, in an incomplete way, the Foro Mussolini to Flaminio. Furthermore, the events of the period between 1934 and 1948-49 where focused on the building of four corner headings on Piazza Gentile da Fabriano,on the tracing of the secondary streets behind and on the building of the allotments in particular between Vasari Street, Vespignani street, Bregno Street and Piero della Francesca Street, Gentile da Fabriano Square, Pannini Street, Tadolini street and Antoniazzo Romano Street.

The other two bridges were not yet finished, in prosecution to Monte Zabio Street and above all from Piazza Gentile da Fabriano to the Foro; this happened in spite of the accomplishment of the four trident headings, and after that the northern side of the square had already been delimited on the basis of a project of 1933 (Enrico Del Debbio, 1932-33) and from the overlooking Casa Delle Armi (Luigi Moretti, 1933-36). The Southern side of the square was still unsettled, it was situated toward Viale Angelico, from the apportionment at Prato Falcone (1912-24), within a lower share. At the same time it had been defined, not far from it, Maresciallo Giardino Square, thanks to the realization of themilitary Architecture Museum at the corner with Lungotevere della Vittoria (1933-40) and , from 1934 and 1948, with the two corner headings between Viale angelico, Filippo Corridoni Street and Clodia circumvallation.

Thirty years after the Olympic Games, the Football World Cup of 1990 have been very important for the area, with two undertakings that have helped to isolate the area frm the rest of the city.

In this period Mancini square has been transformed into a garden. In the same period it's been realized the so-called surface tube from Flaminio Square to Macini Square, that develops almost all the path on Flaminia Road: exactly the architectural barriers consisting in railways, platforms and railings, and the very rare crossing paths have determined the difficulties in the penetration inside the residential area along Tevere River until Gentile da Fabriano square, and above all from Villaggio Olimpico and from Parioli.

After this, the district has been newly considered in his totality from the 1992 project made by a group coordinated by D. Gatti De Sanctis for the City of Rome; at the core of the project there's again the will to realize links with the rest of the city, realized by the construction of bridges from Gentile da Fabriano square to Clodia circumvallation and from Fracassini Street to Monte Zebio Street. All of this with the goal to avoid the isolation of the area, that with the axis formed by Viale Guido Reni and Via de Coubertin an continuous path with west-east direction between Foro Italico and Prati District, Villaggio olimpico and Parioli.

For this reason, and also to create fundamental city services in the areas otherwise separeted from the rest, it has been decided the building of a tube station at Maresciallo Giardino square in the nearby of Foro Italico and of the new Auditorium compound on via de Coubertin at the corner with Corso Francia and in front of Villaggio Olimpico (project of Renzo Piano), on the opposite, in Montello Barracks on Guido Reni Street, the new Contemporary Arts Center will be built, (project by the Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, 1998-99).
